Catawissa Creek Watershed

This Map shows the area the Catawissa Creek flows through, NOTE: the locations of the old mine tunnels!

The Catawissa Creek, with its origin somewhere in Luzern County, is approxamately 36 miles in length, (possibly as high as 42 miles). It flows into the Susquehanna River at Catawissa, which eventually empties into the Chesapeake Bay.

Extending outward from this stream is an area covering approximately 152 square miles. The bulk of the watershed is located in both Schuylkill and Columbia counties, and is primarily forested, interspersed with smaller agricultural applications scattered through the valleys.

Mis-named the "Sulfur Creek" for decades, this stream has the potential to become one of Pennsylvania's top trout streams, and possibly stimulate an economic boost in the surrounding area.
